Description
Everything you make is included, so let your imagination run wild. We provide lots of inspiration of things to make or you can explore your own ideas. Imagine drinking your favourite morning beverage in a mug you made yourself or delighting your friends with things you’ve made such as a charcuterie platter and other tableware, vases or bowls. Don’t forget your pets – make your pooch or moggy a food bowl with their name on.
Starting your day at 9.30am, you’ll learn 3 different hand building techniques, explore how to use/apply textures, and also use the potters wheel. Over the day you can expect to make 5 – 6 pieces (maybe more or less depending on size) and a good chunk of time to learn the pottery wheel.
You’ll get to keep the long black Langtons Pottery apron you’ve been wearing as a memento of your day alongside all your pottery work.
Our beautiful setting is a perfect backdrop to gather organics (grasses & flowers) on a short walk and to use these in your pottery making. You’ll get to say hello to the donkeys, llamas and horses in the fields on site as we take this gentle foraging stroll.
Following a tradition of Korean potters who practice Tai Chi and meditation before potting, we can also share some relaxation techniques to prepare for pottery making.
After a day of wellbeing and delight, having left your busy life behind and delved into the alchemy of pottery making, you’ll leave the retreat feeling relaxed, refreshed, inspired and content.
Your pots will be available to collect once they are fired, usually within 3-4 weeks or can be posted for an additional charge.
Our pottery weekend days are suitable for adults, and young adults aged 15 years accompanies by a participating adult.
Email us directly to set up your one day retreat and we will check the diary and confirm with you any special requirements.
